This grant will be awarded to a maximum of ten recipients, each receiving a 50% discount on their Scape Rental Accommodation Fees for up to one year. Eligibility Criteria for Scape Accommodation Grants

To qualify for the Scape Accommodation Grants at the University of Technology Sydney, applicants must meet the following criteria:

- Submit the Scape Accommodation Grant application form by the specified deadline.
- Be:
  - A permanent humanitarian visa holder or an Australian permanent resident visa holder; or
  - Have applied for a Protection Visa or Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa (subclass 786), and possess a Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785), Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790), Bridging Visa A–E, or temporary asylum seeker or refugee resident status.
- Commence one of the following courses in the session following selection:
  - The Jumbunna UNISTART program; or
  - A UTS undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree; or
  - A UTS postgraduate research degree; and
- Be enrolled full-time in the Autumn session preceding the award or plan to enroll full-time.
- Sign a rental tenancy agreement with Scape according to Article 4’s specifications.
- Demonstrate the ability to justify one of the following:
  - Application for an Equity Scholarship through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) with documentation of financial need and/or other barriers to study; or
  - Relocation from, or intention to relocate from, an outer regional, remote, or extremely remote location in Australia, as defined by the Rural, Remote, and Metropolitan location (RRMA) categorization resource.

Note: Applicants holding Australian Bridging Visas A through E must provide a letter or statement from a community organization validating their experience as asylum seekers.

Selection Process

As outlined in the scholarship application:
- Proof of financial need and/or other barriers to study, as determined by the UAC Equity Scholarship, may include:
  - Long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effects of abuse
  - Indigenous Australian background
  - Refugee status
  - Regional or remote upbringing
  - Sole parent or carer responsibilities
- Demonstrated motivation to excel in a UTS course
- Evidence that the grant would enhance the student's academic performance beyond what would otherwise be achievable

Preference may be given to candidates who can demonstrate (in order of priority):

- One or more educational disadvantages and financial hardship; or
- Financial hardship; and/or
- Academic merit (as a basis for admission to their chosen UTS course).
